Random and a Rant

Life is moving along just swimmingly.  Nothing really new or different.  My baby is such a good baby that it is making me nervous for things to come.  He is just a dream.  I have got to be in for it in the future.
I recently made a new friend in my mom's group.  A really, truly, genuine good friend.  We just click.  There is no drama and it is not work.  The reason I say this is that some of my old friends are just so much work.  They are just a full time job.  Everything is so difficult with them.  This new friend is just so easy going and likes the same things I like.  She likes to go out and about and is ready in a moments notice.  It is perfect.  (and obviously we have kids about the same age...hers is just a couple months younger.  The catch is that her husband just interviewed for a promotion.  If he gets it they will have to move to another state.  I hate to say I am rooting against this, it will be good for them I am sure...I just don't want her to move away.  He interviewed last Monday and they still haven't heard anything back.  I will be happy for them if they do.
The baby and I have such a busy week coming up.  All fun things!  We went to the zoo and dinner today, tomorrow we have a lunch date, Wednesday is mom's group, Thursday is the carnival, and Friday my mom coming in town and back to the carnival on Saturday.  The weather is also going to be good finally.

Now for the rant.  When I was pregnant my hubby and I wanted to tell everyone in person.  We did not want to do a facebook announcement.  We also were telling everyone in order...family, close friend, more distant friends, etc.  Also we are not close to his family AT ALL...we never see them, we never talk to them, we don't spend holiday's with them, they don't come to parties, etc.  However, when we were pregnant we did call each one of them and tell them that in person.  As soon as he told his brother Kevin...Kevin immediately went to facebook and announced it to the world.  I was totally pissed.  He stole my thunder and we were not done telling our friends...some of our friends found out that way and called us a little upset...it was not his place to say anything.  If the pregnant mother has not announced it on her facebook then it is not ok to announce it on yours.
ANYWAYS...he called my husband today to tell him his girlfriend is pregnant and getting married and at the end of the conversation he told my husband to tell me to not put it on facebook because they are trying to keep it low key.  WTF are you kidding me...he stole my thunder and we don't even talk but once every 3 or 4 years.  Also I would never do that it hurt me very bad and I never air my dirty laundry on facebook.  HOWEVER I really FEEL like going ahead and doing it, but out of respect for my husband I couldn't.  But I want to.

6 month

I use my son to make friends....

There I said it...I use my son to make friends.

Lets talk about seasons of friends.

High School-I had greats friends..lots of them...I still talk to them today.  It was easy to make them and long lasting.

College-Easy to make friends, but they just didn't seem to last long.  I don't keep in touch with them now.  I always had people to hang out with and go to lunch with and shop with.

Adults-coworkers-I never had much success making good friends with co-workers...we talked at work but that was about it.  I just didn't want to see them outside of work because they just reminded me of work.  I just never ever clicked with anyone.

Friends of spouse (or significant other)-easy to make friends with because you kind of have to.  But, I have had a lot of success with this because we seem to like each other.  This is important and makes your life way less stressful.

Now for the grand finale-making friends with other moms.  This is wonderful and fairly easy.  IMO-the reason it is easy is because when I invite them places they say yes because they want to do stuff with their kids outside of the house.  We have something to talk about (our kids) and we want to hear about that stuff.

So recently I have made some new friends.  It is so refreshing!  Thank goodness.  I feel a little guilty using my son, but I will feel better about that during his teenage years.
