mmmm.....watermelon....sorry I am eating watermelon as I am writing this....

Did a lot of shopping today....spent way too much money and now I am regretting it. -

-I bought a new bedspread and shams.....quilt
-got my husband a new pair of shorts...he needed some and I recently got a whole bunch of clothes
-groceries
-paid car insurance
-and garaged saled

I hate dropping so much money in one day when payday is a whole week away.

Tomorrow I have a ladies guild meeting to plan the May breakfast and then my husband and I plan to organize the basement...long overdue....next week is our city 'spring clean' week which means they will pick up a lot of stuff that they don't normally pick up.

I also stopped at the video store and rented like 4 movies...hope I got some good ones!!!!

Invented Dinner

I actually was way to lazy to go to the store today (I had the day off)

(I actually can't say I was lazy...I did clean the house top to bottom and scrapbooked....I just really did not want to go to the grocery store)

So...I tried to invent a new recipe:

4 parts: noodles, steak, veggies, and sauce

I boiled whole wheat rotini noodles, then I grilled some steak and sliced it into little chunks, and then tossed it with some sauce.

Sauce-1/2 bottle of Kraft Asian sesame salad dressing, some soy sauce, salt, pepper.

I then added some mixed vegetable (It was actually a bag of stirfry veggies)

It was pretty good!

Style Show/Tea

My Ladies group is having a fundraiser today and yesterday was 'set-up' day and I just wanted to share a few picks for set-up. The fundraiser is a style show/tea party....a store is offering for us to model some spring fashion (I am one of the models) (we get 40% off at the store for modeling) and also there will be tea and finger sandwiches and cookies at the event. Everyone volunteered to decorate a table and here is my table:

The following pictures of other people's table. Some people went with a theme (I didn't) one was a luau, birthday party, Christmas, Easter, lilacs, patriotic, etc etc.

Happy Birthday!

I would like to wish a very Happy 2nd Birthday to......

THIS GUY!!!!!

Happy Birthday Huckleberry!

Mommy (Me) made him a cake and let him lick the spatula

(Don't worry, I washed it very well with very hot water)

Cake Before Frosting
It is a Peanut Butter Doggie Delight carrot cake

The 'frosting' is cottage cheese and that is shredded carrot for decoration.

(I never lit the candles....it is just for the picture)

If you notice the piece missing....my husband and I tried it before he ate it....it was good....it is really just a regular cake but instead of sugar, honey was used to sweeten it. It had peanut and shredded carrot in it.

His strategy was to lick all the frosting off before he ate the cake (isn't that just like a human 2 year old?)

He really did gobble it up....it was gone in less than 2 minutes....hehehe

I just googled the recipe.....

Blog in my Dream

My blog was actually in my dream last night. I am not going to go into the whole dream, but basically I dreamt that I logged onto my blog and in one day got 150 new followers. Looking at my followers list, that was not true...hehehe.

Inside Secrets

Sometimes it is fun to know inside secrets.

A friend of ours brother and his 'fiancee' (I will tell you why I put fiance in quotes in a second) are both my friends on facebook. Well she posts her statuses all day long. Her posts are always about her upcoming wedding. Things like: only 84 days until I marry the love of my life....or.....can't wait to be Mrs. X....or.....got my wedding dress fitted, etc etc. Well the inside secret is that they went to the court house and got married back in October 2009....so they are already married and this is more of a vow renewal than a wedding. (I am not saying anything bad about this.....I am just talking about inside secrets) Only like 4 people know they are already married and I am one of them.

hehe shhhhh....

Oops

I went to see the movie "Date Night" today. I was buying some popcorn and soda and after I paid I lifted my purse off of the counter and then as I swung it around to my arm I hit a straw dispenser and the straws (100's of them) and the metal dispenser went flying in the air and all over the ground....I was so embarrassed. The good thing though is I went to a 2:15 show and I arrived way before my friend....and we went to a small town theater so the only people who saw me do it was 2 employees and myself. Thank goodness I was the only one at the snack bar at that time......

Dear Neighbor two doors down,

Maybe if you took the time one day to fix the hole in your fence, your dog might not escape everyday and run barking around the neighborhood for an hour or more. Then, you have to come out and yell, " Peanut, Peanut!" everyday....apparently the brick you set by the hole is not working.....if you were to take one hour on a Sunday afternoon to fix it....you might find that you save hours upon hours everyday searching and screaming for your dog.....just a suggestion.

Your Friendly Neighbor,

Today

I feel so drained right now and the day is not over. I had a 10:15 doctor's appointment this morning and then I wanted to get some plants to put in my planters and had to go to two different stores to get them. I then came home and planted them (I probably won't post any pictures of them...because they are not that spectacular and I just don't want to get the camera out and then load the pics right now) I then ran an errand and ran into my grandma and she talked my ear off about the funeral yesterday for over 45 mins on the sidewalk (I am not complaining about this...she might of needed to vent) and then had to go to the grocery store and pharmacy. I came home and grilled hamburgers that my husband ate on the fly since he has a side job to work on tonight. I then took a shower and I have a ladies guild meeting tonight. (I hate having them on Tuesday nights because Tuesdays are like my favorite night for TV watching!!!!!!!) I am looking forward to this meeting because the Spring fund raiser is a style show and tea and I am in the style show and I volunteered to set a table for the tea. So I am excited to help finalize the details!

A Complaint plus me not having any self control

First the complaint:

Every year (well for two years now since he is only 2) Petsmart (((((does everyone know what Petsmart is?)))))))) sends me a birthday card in the mail with a coupon attached to it for my dog.....the complaint is this: The coupon is for a FREE toy with any $15 purchase, but in fine print it says that the coupon is a $4 value...now "THERE ARE ALMOST NO TOYS AT PETSMART FOR UNDER $4!!!!" The only like 2 that I found were for little itty bitty dogs. The rest were way over that. Why can't they word the coupon...."$4 off a purchase over $15 or $4 off a toy with any $15 purchase.....because I did not get any FREE toy.

Ok now to my not having any self control:

I did buy a gentle guider thing for walking my dog....so because I made a purchase I bought one of those 'chuck its' do you know what I am talking about. If not, it is that long plastic stick with a handle and it comes with a tennis ball and you flick the stick and the tennis balls goes flying and when the dog brings the ball back...you don't have to touch the slobbery ball.

Well, I wanted one of those gentle guiders because my dog is horrible on walks and I had to get a choke collar and that did not work so I wanted to try something else so I wanted the gentle guider. I thought well since I have a coupon for $4 off I will go ahead and get the gentle guider and then buy my dog a b-day present. I told myself on the drive home that I was going to use the guider this afternoon to go on a walk and wait and wrap the chuck it for his birthday. Well, I have no self control....as soon as I saw my dog I ripped open the chuck it and took him in the backyard and we played fetch. I didn't last 3 mins!!!!! (BTW his bday is April 24th) I couldn't wait. What am I going to do when I have children. I am going to be giving them their birthday presents and Christmas presents so early. I am horrible. Now his bday is going to come and I will have nothing to give him.....so I guess I will be going back to the store later and buying him a bone or something.

However, the chuck it was well worth it. He got a lot of running in and I don't have to touch a slobbery ball anymore!!!!!!!!!

Ta-Da

Since our mini-kitchen remodel is about 98% done I thought I would go ahead and post some before and afters...let me know what you think!!!!!

Of Course BEFORE

Another BEFORE

During

Mudroom Before

Another during

AFTER

The reason I said 98% done is....do you see those cords hanging down below the upper cabinets? There are two.....we are installing under the cabinet lighting and that is where it will go.....we just haven't made it to the store to get the lights yet....hopefully this weekend.

KITCHEN AFTER

Mudroom after (those weird light looking things are a reflection of a cut glass door that is directly across from that wall and the sun is shining through at the time I took the picture)

Do you like where I keep my doggie treats for Huck? hehe

This last pic is just the other side of my kitchen.......nothing new was done to this recently. However, we did install all those cabinets since we have had the house. When we bought it....the stove and refrigerator was the only thing on that side of the kitchen.

I am in a pickle?

(First off, I was going to reveal the kitchen remodel today, but my husband got mud happy last night and filled several very small imperfections on the wall....so he is painting them as we speak and hopefully tomorrow I can put my pictures back up and show the reveal)

Now on to my problem:

What would you do in this situation? (If you read this blog please comment :) )

My great aunt died yesterday. Now I would not say we were prefectly close. She did come to my wedding and I did see her two months ago at a party. But other than that..it has been hit or miss over the years.

Now, her funeral is on Monday at 10:00 am. (they are having a visitation and funeral back to back...so it is estimated to go from 10-2 at the latest. )

Well Monday I work. I am a substitute teacher so working is hit or miss with me. It would be very easy to get the day off, I would just have to call and they would find another sub, but I really don't want to be out that money. Summer is coming soon and I will have 3 unpaid months off. With the kitchen remodel..every dollar counts right now.

Now, this aunt is the first of my grandmother's siblings to die.....and I am VERY close to my grandma....we talk or visit each other about twice a week and we plan lunch and coffee dates and shopping dates periodically. The death of her first sibling is hitting her pretty hard. I told her I had to work on Monday and she told me to go to work and that she totally understands. My dad might not be able to go either because he has to work Monday also......

What would you do in this situation? Go to work? or call and have them find another sub?

Weekend Recap, Easter, and It's a Twister...It's a Twister!

Ok here goes:

Friday: My grandparents are in an "Old Model Ford" car club.....(however, any classic car owner or any classic car owner wannabe can be in this club...they basically have monthly meetings and then travel around viewing and entering their classic cars in car shows around the area) Well, once a year their car club hosts an event. This years event was this past Saturday...however I go the day before on set up day....basically because I can. My grandfather helps with the set up and my grandmother floats around and does nothing really. Well their show is not only a car show but also a swap meet. By going on Friday...not every vendor is fully set up and not every car is in place, but close enough. (The show is held indoors in a huge events center in my town. So Friday, my brother came over and we went for a walk and ran errands and then we went up to the car show. Saw lots of pretty cars that I want and did a little garage saling or swap meeting shopping around the cars. This might all be confusing to you....it is hard to describe. Later that evening I just made dinner and watched a movie.

Saturday: My mom came into town from Wyoming so we had breakfast and then went shopping at the Mall. I really was not in the mood to go shopping...it really was just something to do with my mom. However, I have been wanting a really comfy pair of flip flops so I did get an Adidas pair that I love. After that, I can home and tried to put my kitchen back together the best I can (remember...we are doing a little kitchen remodel) My husband worked really late this day.)

Sunday: (today Easter) My husband had to work a little today, but when he got home....we went to my little brothers for Easter.....just ate dinner and talked.

When we got home I decided to go to Walmart to get pictures printed and some light shopping. While I was there my phone rang and it was my husband asking if I was ok....I thought he called to ask this because before I left I told him I had a really bad headache. So I just said, "I am fine" and he said, "I mean are you safe from the tornado" and I said, "What?" At that moment the manager of Wal-mart came over the speaker and told everyone to go to the center of the store and told all cashiers to close their registers and go to the center of the store. I was really freaked out and my husband stayed on the phone with me the whole time. Nothing else happened and after 5 mins they canceled the watch and allowed the cashiers to return to their registers and I paid and went home. After that we just watched the "Celebrity Apprentice"

The kitchen remodel is about 90% done. I am really debating on jumping the gun and posting the reveal early because I am so excited to show you, but I really want everything to get done. My husband is really getting burnt out on work (working his regular job, a side job, and our own kitchen remodel) and he told me tonight that he really needs to stop thinking about one thing...because he is getting burnt out. So he is taking tomorrow night off of our kitchen. The only things that need to be finished before I show you a pic is the blind for the window over the sink needs to be put back on (and the window trim painted) and some wall touch-ups. The under-cabinet lighting can wait and that is all we have left. Hopefully soon.
