Today's topic is: Thanksgiving Memories

Thanksgiving Memories

Well Thanksgiving around here is really simple and normal. Basically we meet of the farm and eat. Some watch football and some take a walk after dinner (Me and mom and aunts). That is really about it. Many years ago my cousin was born on Thanksgiving so that is about the most interesting thing that has happened in Thanksgiving past. He is in 8th grade now so that was awhile ago. I usually 1/2 watch the parade while getting ready. I never really sit down and watch it.

The things that I do is bring a side dish (usually pie but not always) and I am the one in the family was does the tablescape decorating.

Fall Challenge day 9

Topic: Football

I do like football. But, what I really like about it is the food and dressing up in sports attire.

My husband is a Green Bay Packers fan and I am a Chicago BEARS fan.

I do love watching football in my living room on my couch in my hooded sweat shirt and sweat pants. I actually have tons of BEARS clothing. I also bought my dog a BEARS water dish haha.

Also I try to attend my universities homecoming football game when I can.

Food- I love making chili, sub sandwiches, order pizza, dips, brownie's, etc. Things along those lines.

Oh also, I am in a fantasy football league this year.....so far so good with that.

Fall Blog Challenge Day8

Ok, it is day 8 of the challenge and today's topic is:

Fall Travel/Road-trips/Vacations

Ok so I assume the topic is suppose to be about trips taken in the Fall....which is not good, because I never travel in the Fall so I can't talk about Italy, New York City, Vegas, Florida, Texas, Colorado, any time in California, Mexico, New Jersey, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, South Carolina, Tennessee, etc etc, because none of those cool vacations took place in the Fall. 90% of them were in the summer and few in the winter. So I really don't have any Fall Travel because I never travel in the Fall.

Also, I don't know if this topic is about past Fall vacations or Fall vacations coming up soon like Fall 2011.

So because of the little time I have and the fact I don't know exactly how to interrupt said topic, I guess I will pick this Fall travel due to the fact it is shorter to write about and is happening this weekend.

Well this in more of a very mini-road trip.

There is something going on this weekend called the "Spoon River Drive" it is happening only a few counties over so it is not that far of a drive. It is really a day trip.

What it is is that there is this really pretty drive that stretches several miles and through several little towns. It happens two weekends every October. Well, along this drive, people have little shops, garage/yard sales, stands, crafts and stuff set up. Towns have town buildings decorated for Fall...there is Fall food like hot chocolate, caramel corn, etc. You really just drive and drive and drive and stop at shops and yard sales and look at the Fall scenery and eat food. That is really about it. We will go on Sunday. I hope to take a few pictures.

Currently, that is the only vacation set in stone for this Fall. There is talk we may go to Wyoming. But, that is not finalized.

I hope I correctly did this post.

Day 7

Fall challenge: Fall recipes

Again, I am going to be putting this post off until later. The reason is because last Spring I got this Fall recipe book on clearance at a cute little boutique store and I have been saving it for Fall to try it out. I had this idea to do a whole post about this mini recipe book. So I am not ready to do this post because I have not made any recipes yet.

However, I will share certain things I make in the Fall. I am not going to post an actual recipe because most of these I have found online so you could google it, have forgot where I got them from, don't use a recipe and just wing it, or don't want to type it out if it is in one of my recipe books.

So,

THINGS I EAT IN THE FALL:

Chili
Apple cider donuts
Carmel apples
Soup of any kind
Hot chocolate
Pot roast
Mac&cheese
Pizza casserole
Popcorn (just normal microwave, but I want it more in the Fall)

Love the weekends

This was such a great weekend and I don't want it to end!
Friday=date nigth
We went out for dinner, mini-golf, and then ice cream! We had a blast.

Saturday=estate sales and hanging around the house.

Sunday=football party-my brothers and dad came over to watch the Bears/Packers game. I made tacos and jello-poke cake. That is my husbands favorite cake and it was his birthday last Thursday.

My dad surprised me with 2 tickets to see WICKED! I can't wait to go!

The tickets really made my weekend!

Boob Tube Babble

Link-Up Boob Tube Babble

PARENTHOOD-love you! But I can't stand Haddie and Amber's new hair cut! I can't even look at them. That really dramatic scene were Alex was telling Haddie about his past and robbing the liquor store because he was hungry. I couldn't even take it seriously because I was laughing at Haddie's permed bangs....not a good look. However, it is better than Amber's lawn mower cut. Come on, they have to be making more money that she can afford more than a lawnmower. WTH!

Also it always creeps me out when one actor dates in real life their sibling on TV. It creeps me out knowing Lauren Grahman is dating her TV brother.

It also annoys me that Julia's husband will express his thoughts and feelings and she just thinks "what the f' ever, I will do what I want anyways".

Teen Mom-I can believe Farrah is leaving her baby behind. She will miss two or more years of her life. Farrah and her mother have such a toxic relationship. Michael has no balls and I can't hear them say "my baby"

Anyone remember Farrah on 16 and pregnant talking about the abusive relationship she was in with Derek. How after they broke up he was stalking her when dated other guys?

I am shocked Tyler and Catlynn are still on. Because they don't have a baby. However, I do think Tyler is a hoot! They can thank their dysfunctional family for the ratings and continuation. Why is Butch going to jail for drugs when the wife is obvisouly cracked out! Anyone feel bad for little Nick? I am surprised Catelynn is the way she is and not way worse with her parents. If my mother married my boyfriends dad and made my boyfriend my brother....I would probably never talk to her again!

Playboy club....like it because it is set in the '60s. Gives me a longing for Mad Men's return! Cry! Cry!

Middle and Modern Family-love you! I can not stop laughing at Modern Family. Phil-is.....hahaha aha

Community, Parks and Rec, and Office-can't get enough! I love Andy from Parks and Rec....I want him to be my friend!!!! The penises sent to ann's cell phone was hilarious!

Real Housewives of New Jersey and Beverly Hills you never disappoint!
Taylor is crazy! I have never seen a real nervous break down before, now I have. When is Paul and Adrienne going to get divorced? Talk about another man with no balls!

Hubby's Day of Birth

Today is my husband's birthday! I am in the middle of getting his gifts organized...here is the start.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

It's ok Thursday-

It's ok to:

Be totally pissed at your neighbor whose kids throw plastic toys into my fenced yard....my dog ate them....do you want to pay for the vet bill?

To purposely not take cash to an estate sale so that you are forced to not buy more junk and just snoop at their stuff, and then want something so you walk to your grandma's next door and get money from her. (I'll pay her back Saturday when she comes over for a party.)

To go shopping for your husband's birthday, but buy something for yourself also.

To be totally excited for must see TV tonight. Hello new season of the "Office"

To really want people to follow me on twitter , please please....mogzgirl if you let me know you are a blogger...I will follow you back promise. Please reveal you are a blogger because I believe I got 3 followers who were porn girls....I blocked them. So I need to know you are legit.

To be so excited for the Bears/Packers game on Sunday because you are a Bears fan and your husband is a Packers fan and you just want to cheer against him, because it is fun.

Fall Challenge Day 4: Decorating

I usually don't decorate until at least October 1st....(don't decorate for Christmas until dec.1st either) at this time, I will do a big clean and decorate day. Since I don't have everything out yet. I will have to do a little teaser for this blog challenge. I did buy something new at Hobby Lobby the other day so this two pumpkins were out.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

And I did put my door wreath up. I plan to do a full decorating post later. One day of challenge I put a few of last years stuff up. Stay tuned for decorating post in October.

Day 3 Halloween Memory

Day 3: What you do for Halloween/A Halloween Memory

Well first off......Halloween is my birthday. So I really don't even know where to start?

Childhood?
Teen?
Adult?
Maybe one of each?

CHILDHOOD-

Well I always had a birthday party....they were great....one was at a zoo at an event my town calls "Spookhollow" once at a hotel, several at home, etc.

Well once my mom and I decided to make a haunted house in my basement. I was in 5th grade. That summer we built a house and at the time we didn't finish the basement so it was all concrete (we later finished it to be really cool)

So we bought green light bulbs and replaced all the bulb so there was a green dim hue. We also bought those rolls of black tarps and hung them from the ceiling and made narrow hallways I guess is the best way to describe that.

We put some tarp in the middle of the walk way and cut slits up them so you had to walk through. We put the fake spider web stuff all over. We played scary sounds on the boom box. We made a coffin out of cardboard and my brother laid in it in a vampire costume and jumped out at people. He actually did a great job at this...I was impressed...he really got into the roll. We would flash the lights on and off while people walked...we also had dry ice to make steam.

There is more to the haunted house...but this post would be so long. Also, I am totally honest when I say this, to this today my friends who attended the party will still make comments on how cool they thought it was as a 5th grader. Serious.....we still sometimes talk about it.

To wrap up childhood....by brothers and I would go trick or treating together. We would come home and dump our candy out on the floor and divide them into piles and count who had more of what type....like who had more snickers, etc.

I always had to have my party on the day before or day after Halloween so that I had the attendance due to trick or treating.
My initials were and still are MMM. So a few times my mom made 3 round cakes and frosted them red or green or orange...m&m color and then put a big white M in the middle to look like a M&M. I also had the princess cake, etc

TEEN Years-
Bonfire parties! I actually had a good friend who would throw bashes in the woods for me. As a cheerleader we would also tp the basketball team.

On my 18th birthday, another friend (who turned 18 first) thought it was funny to buy me anything that an 18 year old could buy...cigarettes, playgirl magazine, lotto tickets....it was really funny. I have no idea whatever happened to that playgirl???

ADULT-
21st...I was with my husband who was my boyfriend then.....bars, gambling, college parties.

These are not in order:
Betty and Barney Rumble

Hunter and Hippie
This one is a story. My cousin use to have a Halloween party every year. This year she was pregnant but she was having problems...long story, but bedrest etc. So I assumed she would not throw her party, but she wanted to if it worked out. I assumed it would not, so I didn't think or buy anything that had to do with a costume. Well the baby (who was due at around Thanksgiving (( Nov)) came the last week of October on a Monday. My cousin still wanted the party that following weekend, but I thought that once she had her baby (1st child) she would not not want to throw a party...well she throw one together at the last minute that Saturday. So I had to throw together 2 costumes (hubby and me) in one busy day. So Hippie and Hunter is what I got. My husband is a deer hunter so he had everything and a hippie is the perfect last second throw together costume.

Burger King and Mother Nature

This one is my brother and his exgirlfriend. But I love it...he was a dead rodeo star....what was his name???? the movie 8 seconds was about him???? I will text the bro and get back to you.

Gilligan and Mary Ann

Day 2: Fall Clothes/Trends/Makeup

Day 2: Fall Blog Challenge-Fall Clothes/Trends/Makeup

Ok, so no offense, but this is probably my least favorite topic of this challenge and the only reason it is is because I bet everyone will probably have about the same thing....so far of of seen boot, scarves, cardigans, etc etc. So basically everyone has about the same stuff.

So, of course I love a great cardigan!!!!!!!!!!!

I am a sub-teacher, so I go in tons of different schools and tons of different classrooms. Every classroom is different so tossing a cardigan in my bag in the Fall is a 'must have' because you never know when you will need it. It is perfect for that surprise recess duty I didn't know about or a chilly classroom! I also love it when you walk into the grocery store and need to spend time in the produce or frozen food section. It is also great if you go to a restaurant that is chilly.

Jeans!!!! Love me some jeans. They are magical! They go with everything. They can be totally casual or dress-up with the right shoes and accessories. Almost everyone looks good in jeans.

Let me tell you one quick thing-My husband looks so sexy in a nice pair of jeans! Can I get an AMEN sisters-

I guess my post could be a little unique compared to the others because I have not seen too many list a nice hooded sweatshirt. I really love the front pocket to have my cell phone, keys, and a little cash to run a quick errand!

Also, a sweater dress,

little story-
I had a sweater dress when I was little back in the 80's that I wore with these wonderful tights. It was so comfortable! About 3 or 4 years ago....my mind wandered to that sweater dress and I thought "Man I wish sweater dressed where back in style so I could find one at a store" Then boom! Sweater dresses back in style...yay! So, ladies, your welcome, I totally believe my power of thought many years ago got the ball rolling on sweater dresses being back in style! haha

Of course I love all the accessories and boots and all the other fall fashion!

The final thing I want to say is that I secretly love a good thick pair of warm socks on a nice Fall day....the reason I say this in secret is because I didn't know this was not fashionable....my grandma gives everyone presents every Christmas....she gives the grandkids money and one small something else....but she gives her daughters (my aunts) an actual gift. Well last Christmas she gave one of my aunts these super soft colorful socks. I actually really like them. When my grandma left, my aunt started to make fun of the fact that her mom (grandma) gave her socks (she got her other stuff too, but socks where one thing) and she made fun of her for awhile. I didn't find it funny because I actually really liked the socks and wished I had them and my grandma spends so much money on everyone...how much should she be spending on her 50 something year old daughter? I thought socks were a great gift...something you may not buy yourself...but the next time you are cozy on the couch watching a good movie....toasty toes are wonderful!!!!

Bitter

My dog has been licking his 2 front paws lately. He has been licking the same spot so much that he has licked it raw. One paw is worse than the other. He has licked a patch of fur clean off. We went to the vet last month and all she said is that it might be mites. She ordered a skin scrape and we did that and it was negative for mites. That is really all she said. I need a new Vet asap. However, this one is so close and all other ones are such a far drive....but I need to buck up and go because she sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

So basically my vet is google. Just through google my guess is that he has acral lick granuloma. That is basically that he licks the same spot over and over again. (common in labs) This just started this month and he is 3 and 1/2 years old. The causes are allergies (food), allergies in the air, or a psychological anxiety feeling. Well he has been on the same food forever, so I don't think it is that. It is air borne allergies or psychological. However, at 3 1/2 years old it just started. In the past he has had watery eyes in the spring and fall, but nothing out of control. Here are some new things that have happened:

new leather couch?????????????????
I have summers off so I just went back to parttime work??????????????????
We just got new neighbors who have 2 dogs and we have been living over 3 years with vacant houses on both sides of us. (one house, the lady is in a nursing home and the son won't sell until she is no longer with us...the other one the lady died and her three children fought over it for 5 years....one sister just bought the other 2 out so she has allowed her son and girlfriend to move in)

so new couch, back to work, new neighbor anxiety, something else?????????

Well, I don't want to put a cone around his neck just yet, so I bought some of the bitter spray. I sprayed it on his paws and he is suppose to lick it, have it taste bad, and never do it again. So lets see how that works.

The rest of today, I spent shopping for my hubby's birthday which is next Thursday.

I also am going through our picture CD (remember when we got some pictures taken???) I want to submit an order soon. So, I need to pick my favorites.

Package

I ordered and just received the cutest kitchen supply. It is from anthropology

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Sorry I misspelled it above...on my iPad I don't know how to scroll up and fix it. Anthropologie . The iPad auto corrected it.

Well anyways, it is a set of measuring cups that when stacked, look like a milk bottle. So cute. My family is in the milk business, we sold to prairie farms. So we are into milk up in here!

Now I need to cook or bake something in order to use these. Well, not tonight since we are having take-out.

What do you think?

Here is the cake I just finished decorating.

Funeral Day

Well we just arrived back from the funeral and funeral dinner. It was very nice. He really was way too young to die. He was 48.

So now I am baking a cake for my brother's birthday. His birthday was Wednesday (the same day John died) and I was planning a party at my house for him Friday, but had to cancel it due to the visitation. I rescheduled it for Sunday. The bad part is I wanted a bonfire party for him so it will have to be later and everyone has to work the

next day, so there will probably be some early leavers, but whatever. So I am baking a cake and doing some other prep work in preparation for that.

Passing

Well, my step-father-in-law passed this afternoon. They shut the vents off at 12:10 and he died at 12:40. The did not struggle and he never gasped for breath. He just peacefully pasted. We went to his parents house and had dinner this evening. The visitation is Friday and the funeral is Saturday. I actually have to go buy St. Louis Cardinals t-shirts tomorrow because as a tribute to him, we are all wearing them at the visitation.

Also this weekend I am throwing my little brother a bonfire party on Sunday. It was suppose to be Friday but I had to change it due to the funeral.

Well I probably should be getting some sleep right now. Good night
