Estate Sale

I love estate sales.....it is like a garage sale were you can go inside someones house.

I went to an estate sale today and actually it was at the home of someone I know. Nick Pisano...my old neighbor from lawndale ct. The house was 2 houses down from the house I grew up in. I got a lot of interesting treasures:

2 embroidered pillow cases
1 embroidered body pillow case
a lovely glass pitcher
2 books on cd
glass punch bowl
3 necklaces

I hope to find one again next Friday

I love to go to them...but they are kinda sad...it usually means that someone died or is moving to a retirement community.

oops I forgot

I forgot to tell you about my ob/gyn appointment. I really like my doctor! So far and I am very happy with her. I did receive one bit of bad news: she said to not try to have a baby until you are off your bc for 2 months. I was planning on trying on Sunday...now I am suppose to wait 2 months.

Daily Cleaning Routine

I am starting a cleaning routine. If I stick with it my house will always be 'company ready' (not like that really matters) but also will eliminate the need for spring cleaning (not like I have ever done that). This routine envolves 3 daily routines, a weekly schedule, and zone missions. Lets start with the daily routines:

There is a morning, afternoon, and evening routine. The following is what is currently set up and will change shortly (today was day one):

Morning-
make bed
dress
swish toliet/swipe bathroom countertops
empty dishwasher
check calendar for appointments (this will change since I do not have many appointments)
check online bank accounts

Afternoon-
get dinner started
fill sink with warm soapy water
set table
spray air freshener
light a candle

evening-
shine sink (this is the only daily challenge...I hope I can keep up with this one)
wipe kitchen counters
brush teeth
wash face

the daily routines are designed to last 10 minutes or less

Now the weekly schedule:
Monday-grocery shop
Tuesday-weekly home blessing with discuss this later
Wednesday-Free day, but with 15 min zone work
Thursday-Clean fridge/write thank you notes
Friday-Errand run (non-grocery errands)
Saturday-paperwork-menu for week, file papers, clean purse, clean car
Sunday-laundry

(Home Blessing-this is my one basic whole house cleaning day-you are suppose to toss papers, change sheets, empty all trashes, vacuum, sweep/mop kitchen and bathroom, clean mirrors, clean stove top, and dust----everything is done easily and by that I mean just vacuum center of room (( do not move furniture)) no deep done detail cleaning)

and the final thing is zone cleaning:
every week is a new zone and everyday is a chore for that zone
The zones are as follows:
Entrance, Front Porch, dining room
Kitchen
Bathroom and extra room
Master Bedroom
Living room

So for one week you only detail clean one zone and one one challenge in that zone per day...so you spend 7 days cleaning one room (you are actually suppose to only spend 15 mins per day in the zone..but I am not timing myself)

For example-this week is zone 4 the master bedroom-yesterday was dusting the ceiling and walls and today was dusting the floorboards-I will have to check the website tomorrow to find tomorrows master bedroom challenge-possible tasks might be moving furniture to vacuum or sweeping the bottom of the closets or so on and so forth.

I have a binder that should keep me organized and I check things off as I go...lets hope I stick to this.

Fan-tab day

I had a fan-tab-u-lous day.....Emily and I went to estate sales all morning long....then we went to Quadoba for lunch, walked on the riverfront, went to the mall, and then hung out at her house. What a fun girls day....I need more of them.....

Got a busy (not quite so fun) day planned tomorrow. I do have one fun thing planned. Wes and I are going out to dinner and then hanging out at barnes and noble. I want to find a really good pregnancy book.

Not really a whole lot going on here.

I received my Uggs yesterday in the mail. I do like them..but they are hard to get on and I am really disappointed in that. They are too expensive to struggle so much to wear. I hope they stretch a little :)

I had to take Huckleberry's rabies paper back to the vets today because they put the wrong address down. Not a big deal...but just goes to show that nothing can go easy or correctly.

I bought some NERDS from Big Lots on the way home because I have not had any in like 22 years. I am not really liking them and don't know why I liked them so much when I was a kid. Probably won't have any anymore.

Huck keeps digging in the back yard and it is reallly making me mad...I wish he would stop...he is messing up the grass.

I actually am really excited to get my first call for this year...I can't believe I am saying this....but I kinda want to go into work. I wonder when my first job will be.

I really want to have a game night this Saturday night...but it doesn't sound like anyone is interested. It is such a struggle to have friends over...no one wants to come ever. I do take the hint for a good 8-9 months and then I try asking people again....struggle ensues and then I go another 8-9 months before I try again. We have not had a single friend over in like a year or more.

I don't really have anything else to say right now. I really hope that I have a fun weekend or a productive weekend.....either way I will be happy. Talk more later.

Cook-out

Had a great day at Doug and Jamie's cook-out today! Wonderful food. To bad it rained. I saw tons of people I haven't seen in a long time!!!! I was shocked at the number of kids that were there. I think the kids out numbered the adults. It is so weird to think of all my peers having kids...some are even on their seconds. Crazy

Yesterday

Yesterday I went to Emily's and we had an awesome day. We sat and hung out at her house for awhile and talked.....then we ran some errands together and one of those was to Cliff's market. When we got back we sat on her back porch in her 'cool' chairs and played fetch with the dogs...we really did not do anything exciting, but it was still a very fun day!!!

Ladies Guild

I am thinking about joining the Ladies Guild at church...I will be the youngest one there by about 35-40 years! lol. I want to join some things that will have people my own age....but there are really not that many things available and especially none that don't cost money...I have tried a scrapbooking class one time...but that was $30 plus the cost of supplies. I want something free. The ladies guild will at least be free and do activities that I enjoy....I just wish there was somebody my age. I think I might try it and see how it goes.

Pool Time

Today I went to Galesburg to visit Heather, Ava, and Taylor. We went to the Lake Braken pool where we had a quick lunch and then went swimming! We had a blast. Here are a few pictures of us swimming.

After swimming Taylor had a Dr. appointment that I went along to to watch Ava while mommy and baby saw the dr. Ava and Taylor were so well behaved!!!! (Taylor slept the whole time)

Movies

I am totally in a movie watching mode. Yesterday I went to the theater and watched "The Ugly Truth", Today I saw, "The Proposal", and tomorrow I am thinking of seeing "Julie and Julia". I also hope to see "Funny People" this weekend.

Florida

I am late on this post....but in July (18th-22nd) I went to Florida and I wanted to tell you about it. I went with a friend of mine (she is also a cousin) and we had a girls weekend. (I have never had a girl's vacation before) On Saturday we got in mid-afternoon and were picked up by Zeke and Melody. We ran a couple of errands to have supplies for the weekend and then they dropped us off at the condo and asked us to go out with them later that evening. We then wanted dinner so we walked up to Caddy's and I had a hamburger and corn on the cob. Oh, we went to Treasure Island, Fl which is sorta close to St. Pete beach. That evening, Robert picked us up and we went to a few bars with Zeke, Melody, Robert, and Josh. After a couple of bars we got some beer and went back to the condo and hung out until people wanted to go home. On Saturday, we went to the beach and then to a cook-out at Penny's and Mike's. They had great food and a lot of it. Chicken corde on Bleu, shrimp, pate w/ crackers, cheesy potatoes, and apple pie with ice cream and cool whip which Mike said he got since we aren't family...lol. We drank Corona and then played 'catch phrase'. I had a great time!!!! Tom and Jules took us to the grocery store afterward and then back to the condo. Bobbie and I then hang out at the beach for the rest of the evening. Monday, Melody brought the kids out to visit and go swimming, we then went to John's pass to go shopping (just Bobbie and I )....we ate a great lunch and then came home and cooked dinner and again, sat on the beach (of course).. Tuesday we wanted more strawberry daquiries so Zeke and Melody took us to 'Philthy Phil's' and we enjoyed as many frozen cocktails as we could. Wednesday, greeted us with a very early morning and then a bus ride to the airport. Paula picked me up in Bloomington and we went out to dinner with her, Kevin, and the kids that evening in Metamora. I think I might finally be caught up on sleep..maybe?

It is official....

This is my last pack of birth control pills. After I finish this.....there will be nothing that we are doing to stop getting pregnant. Wes is really excited and doesn't even want me to take these....but I am going to. I also have an ob/gyn appointment on August 24 to meet and get to know a baby doctor. I start this pack tomorrow and wondering, "Will this month go really, really fast or really, really slow?"

What I made for dinner

I made a really excellent dinner tonight and I just had to share.

We were given a bag of corn on the cob and the same week my "Country Living" magazine came with an article full of corn recipes...what good timing!!!

So I made flank steak with corn relish and corn fritters. The best part of the meal was the fritters...it seriously tasted just like the restaurants. I really am proud of myself.

What else could go wrong?

Nothing really big happened...just a few small things. The dog cut himself really bad....inbetween the toes...this morning he was bleeding really bad and it is literally all over the back patio. Wes saturated several paper towels before he left for work. He had to get to work...so I was left to fend for myself. The bleeding has stopped and he is in good spirits with a slight limp.

The lawnmower quit working....I unclogged it and am waiting a few minutes to cool it down and see if it will start later. Hopefully.

Just found out that Huck is ready for his rabies shot...another $51 that I wasn't planning on spending. I am forgoing the other vaccinations that they are recommending...and I am hoping I make the right decision. One of the vaccination that I am skipping is for 'kennel cough' which is like a cold in a human....I don't vaccinate myself for a cold...so I don't know why I need that for a dog. Another thing I am skipping is the test for heartworm.....since the day I got him I have been paying $7 a month for heartguard to prevent heartworms...they 'recommend' the test again (he was tested at the beginning of starting heartguard) I again don't understand testing him to possibly see if he has heartworms....I have had him on heartguard every month and he doesn't seem to be sick so I am waiving that test. The lady at the vet's office really made me feel like complete shit for not testing for heartworm and not getting the kennel cough vaccination. I wanted to slap her.

Wes has been working a lot so I don't see him much. We haven't done anything fun on the weekend just him and I in a while because he has been working..but thank God he is working...he is the one supporting us!!!

One good note. We might be joining a Pinochle group. Neither of us know how to play pinochle...I hope that is not a problem lol.

Monday, August 3, 2009

I have had such a productive day!!!! I found someone to haul away our old deep freeze that does not work anymore. (For Free) Made a vet appointment for Huck's rabies shot, went for a walk, cleaned, cleaned, cleaned, and lots of laundry.

August is going to go by really fast...before I now it I will be back to work. My calendar until then is really filling up fast. I have not got everything I wanted done this summer. The main thing I wanted to do is paint all of my interior doors, and the side exterior door. The summer is not over yet though!

UPDATE: WE DID GET ALL THE INTERIOR DOORS PAINTED!!!!!! YAY
