Weekend Recap
Well, I've had a pretty uneventful weekend.
Did a little scrapbooking-
Did a little-out-to-eat Saturday night-
Did a little church-
Did a little steaks on the grill-
Did a little reading-
Did a little cleaning-
Did a little at home facial-
Did a little errand running
And getting ready to do a little Emmy and Bridezilla watching-
The hubby has worked all weekend so I have not seen him except at the restaurant last night (Saturday)
My friends and I are starting a book club and our first meeting was suppose to be Wednesday so I read like crazy to finish the book I was currently on to be ready to read the first book we pick on Wednesday, but I heard about an hour ago that we are going to reschedule the first meeting until the next Wednesday, so I didn't have to finish that book so quickly (I finished it early this morning) But, oh well, I guess I have that book done now. I will probably take a little break until book club starts (or maybe not).
Have I told the blog that a friend and I are going to see the "American Pickers" shop on September 11th? (It is a show on the history channel on Monday nights) google it. Well if not I am and I am so excited!

Dr. Dolittle
I just walked out side to let my dog in and as soon as I shut the dog I looked up and saw another dog on my driveway...I then started walking around the corner and a mouse was a few feet away. Then I looked up at my dog...I am not Dr. Dolittle, what is with all the animals?

Embarrassing Moment
I could of just had a potential embarrassing moment. I was on the treadmill in my house and when I am on the treadmill in my house I usually just wear a bra. (well underwear, pants, socks, and shoes, but bra on top) I am just more comfortable that way and I am home alone. Well, while on the treadmill my phone rang and it was my husband. We started chit chatting and he started talking about the weather so I walked into the living room to look out the picture window to see the sky (are you following here and know where I am going with this?) after talking for a minute I am like "sh*t I am in front of the living room picture window wearing just a bra on top" No one was on the street (car or walking) and my neighbor across the street's car was not in the driveway and the house next to her is empty and for sale, so I don't think anyone saw me, but I am not 100% for sure. Let's hope no one saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vintage
My brother and I took a little day trip to some vintage stores a little over an hour south of us....we just wanted to get in the car and drive. I got a bunch of neat things.
The upper left hand corner is a tray with red roses on it and I also found a table cloth with red roses on it to match. To the right of that is a cake stand, below that are a set of embroidered pillow cases. To the left of the pillow cases (with the pink trim) is another table cloth, to the left of that is a tray. The final to things on the right side of this picture are table runners. One is an eyelet pattern and one is an embroidered and crotcheted pattern.
This is the same picture but now you can see the apron.

First Practice Pics with New Camera
Folks, here are some PRACTICE shots....pics of weird things just to practice. Please understand that I have had this camera like 6 hours period....and have done other things today besides play with my new toy. So, take these with a grain of salt.
Also, I do not have any editing software, so these are right off of the camera.

Anybody out there? Anybody? Is this thing on?
Ok,
I am throwing this out into cyber world and maybe someone who knows what they are talking about can answer some questions.
I am in the market for a camera....I want a nice one....I have been researching and these are some loose ends I need answered:
(I want an SLR not a point and shoot)
How many point auto focus is good? It the more the better? Or is too much bad some how? I have seen cameras with 9 and 11 point focus....is 11 the way to go?
What does a UV lens filter do? Do I need it?
ISO? What do I need? I have seen 1600 and 6400 on the cameras I have on my list....is it very important to have 6400?
What is the difference between DSLR and SLR?
What can you tell me about menu retouch built into the camera?
Would you suggest Nikon or Canon?

"All Shook Up"
The play last night was hilarious. It had all Elvis songs in it, but it had nothing to do with Elvis. Basically it was about:
*Boring old small town
*mayor was a stick-in-the-mud who passed laws like-no wearing bright colors, no music, no necking in public, basically no falling in love
*a roustabout came into town on his motorcycle because it was making a funny sound and he wanted it checked out
*while he was there he made everyone fall in love, wear bright colors, listen to music, dance, smile etc.
*everyone fell in love with different people and it kept switch
*by the end of the play everyone was in love with their perfect match and sang, and danced, and lived happily ever after
*even the roustabout found someone he could ride off in the sunset with
It was actually a comedy and I laughed out loud through most of it.
Went to lunch today with my grandma and little brother, always a good time.
I wanted to tell you a funny story about something that happened at a store today.
The store was the "Dollar General" not sure if you know what that is but basically a cheap general store.
2 'characters': cashier and lady behind me in line
setting: I just paid and was gathering my bags and leaving as the cashier starts to take care of the next customer
(the cashier is a very sweet lady who talks to every customer.....we talk everytime I come and and I am starting to know a lot about her and her about me)
props: lady in line behind me as a sh*t ton of milky way bars.
cashier: "someone likes candy!"
lady behind me: "Yeah my husband and my dog"
Ok,
WHY THE HELL ARE YOU FEEDING YOUR DOG MILKY WAY CANDY BARS?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
First off, that is horrible for a dog (chocolate), second off a very expensive treat. This lady did not look as if she was rolling in the money.
My dog gets feed 99.9999% dog food but on a RARE chance he has gotten cheese (when he gets his shots he is distracted with cheese), peanut butter (in his kong ball), and a few tosses of popcorn if I am feeling generous. There is 'people food' people give their dogs and then there is milky ways.

I love the 80's
My husband and I had so much fun last night. We went to this dinner theater. It was called "Awesome 80's Prom"....it was so much fun. As you are waiting in line to get in the door there were actors in line with you pretending they were waiting to get in the Prom. When you walked into the door the principal and senior class adviser welcomed you. They were saying things like "Aren't you in the Marching band?" "No smoking in the bathroom" etc. Then everyone got a name tag. Then the president of the PTA approached you and wanted you to sign the "Prom Purity Pledge" then the Waterhouse (the place it was held) was decorated in 1989 prom decorations. Actors walked around you all night with story lines. There was the jock, head cheerleader, nerd, rebel (he was freakin' hilarous....at dinner time he cut in line and filled his plate and walked around picking off of it...then he came to my table and stole someones fork. I took a pic of him and he flicked my camera off hahaha) drama guy, class president, head of the prom committee, etc. But you had to follow the story lines. (like the captain of the football team and head cheerleader broke up and then started hooking up with other people to make each other jealous, the nerd girl really wanted a kiss for the cap. of fb team and she kept making plans to do that. The play even continued in the bathroom. I went pee and the drama teacher/senior class adivsor pounded on my stall to 'stop smoking in the bathroom' and another time I was washing my hands and three actors came in and started talking about a love triangle and how they were going start rumors. My husband went to the bathroom and the 'rebel' and 'jock' had the nerd up against the wall and asked my husband what he thought they should do with him. Several of them were nominated for prom king and queen and we had to fill out ballots and 'vote'. The food was great: pulled pork, chicken, glazed carrots, corn, smashed pototoes, salad, rolls, and desserts. It was $35 per person and alcohol was extra. My stomach hurts this morning from laughing so hard!!!!
The name of the high school was "Wanaget High" class of 1989.

Apparently I'm 5
I am just kidding, but for some reason I decided that I wanted to go see this movie:
today. So I did!
I read the stories when I was little and I have taught the stories as an adult. I guess I was feeling a little nostalgic today.
It was really cute, I enjoyed it. I won't recommend you go out and see it unless you want to, but it might be a cute DVD to rent later. (or if you have kids to see it now :) )
The little girl who played Ramona was a fantastic little actress! I wanted to squeeze her cheeks!
Josh Duhamel is in it!!! Just saying.

Rude
You know when you go to a grocery store/Walmart/Target type store and people leave their shopping carts in between parking spots and on curbs and basically anywhere except for the cart return~cart corral? You just adding to the job of a stock boy making minimum wage, but that is not what I am talking about today.
Today, I went to the grocery store and as I pulled into my spot I noticed that someone left a shopping cart in a parking spot and not only did they leave it there, but it was 1/4 filled with garbage. I mean doritos bags, soda cans, crumpled paper, cigarette cartons, fast food wrappers, etc. So, basically, someone loaded their car with their groceries and then preceded so clean out their car by throwing garbage in the cart and then left the cart in a parking space?????? Oh my how rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And to take this one further, this grocery store had a gas station in one corner of their parking lot, which means, a drive up garbage can. But, no, they loaded up a shopping cart with their car garbage.

Clay Pot Cooking
Well, if you remember this:
from my previous post I did find out what it is and what it is used for.
I did know it was for cooking: duh, but wasn't sure what type of cooking. I thought for sure it was not for meat because it is clay and all the 'juices' would absorb in the pot, but I was wrong.
It is a roaster and meat is the best thing to cook in it. Go figure. I had one person on my blog take a guess and she was right.
Then I though it was only for poultry like chicken or turkey. Again I am wrong...the website said it was great for meat loaf (ground beef-lots of fat/juices)
(If you do go to the website, mine is item number 01102)
I also found out what was so great about it and why people use it.
The way you use this is you soak it in water for 15 mins before you bake anything. Then you put it in a cold oven and turn it on. Then when it is done, you slowly cool it down (don't put on a cold countertop, it might crack)
Well the water steams it and the meat gets really moist without added oil or anything.
So clay pot cooking is a healthy way to bake basically. My roaster is the small one, so I of course can't cook a thanksgiving turkey in it, but I might be able to do a small chicken or a turkey breast. We will see.
