I don't have a lot of time, but I just wanted to pop-in with one quick story.
I went to a party thrown by my brother last night. His friend AJ just had a baby with his girlfriend on Valentine's Day. But the interesting part is Aj, Aj's girlfriend, and the baby all have birthdays on Valentine's Day! Isn't that sweet? They got a newspaper article written about them and next year they will have a follow-up the Valentine's one year later.

New Tools!
Today I got This:

And This:

Basically Love love love these:
Lets start with the Bona.
As I already told you...we refinished our hardwood floors. So, since we took all that time and money to do this, I wanted a hardwood floor care system that was appropriate. I didn't want the swifter system since I did not want to buy the replacement sheets weekly like most people I know. With this mop you machine wash the pad. You do need to refill the cleaner, but we plan on buying the big multi-gallon bottle and refill the bottle that goes on the mop. You also need to use it very sparingly so it should last awhile. I believe I could get buy with buying the big jug once a year. Once you spray and pass the mop...the floor is already dry!
So far....I don't have any complaints with this.
Back to the 'shark steam pocket' I really love it!!! I do!!!
If I did have a complaint....I wish you could lock the button so you don't have to hold it down (I am sure this is a safety feature), but it is kind of a pain in the a*$ to hold that button down. For example, there is a dusting sleeve and I wanted to dust the ceiling fan. But I had to hold the wand, ceiling fan blade, and hold the button down. So I would need three hands. So as I was dusting, I had to hold the button and hold the wand and the blades were moving as I was cleaning. This also happened on my kitchen faucet. Since my faucet swivels, as I moved the wand and held the button, the faucet moved and I didn't want it to. I move tie a twisty tie around the button to hold it. That is basically my only complaint.
I LOVE the number of accessories that comes with it. I even have a garment steamer and a squeegee.

Goals for the next 30 days.
Goals for the next 30 days.
*Continue on this great "spring cleaning" I am doing. I am actually pretty proud of all the cleaning I am accomplishing. (I am buying the "Shark" pocket steamer tomorrow!!!)
*Pay off my student loan. Which should happen!!! Yay!!!
*go to gym 5 days a week
*begin some yard work when the weather allows me to
*get Valentine's day scrapbooked
*buy refill pages for scrapbooks (my Christmas pages are just floating around in the back of my Christmas scrapbook)
*donate at least two garage bags full of donations to the Mission Mart
*buy season 4 of mad men when it comes out
I can't think of anything else...I will add more if I think of any
#-on a completely different side note-Scrapbookers only please read on-hehehe
I am just curious of how you organize your scrapbooks....this is what I do
I have a completely different scrapbook for every holiday ie:Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc, etc and every year I have one page for each holiday. I hope in 30 years on that holiday I can pull out that scrapbook, let's say Halloween, and see all the Halloweens through out the years...I think this will be neat
I also have a SEPARATE book for my wedding (I actually have Volume 1 and volume 2 of my wedding), other people's weddings, birthdays, my honeymoon, every vacation, my dog has his own, one for home-improvement projects, one for my anniversaries, I made one for my husband from when he was little (we only have a few pictures of his childhood...let's just say his mom was not a very organized person) and one for misc.
So, this is how I organize. How do you? Do you have one labeled by the year-for example one that is labeled 2010 and everything that happened during 2010 is in it? Or what?

Weekend recap: Home Improvement edition
We are just coming off of a very busy weekend. We spent this weekend refinishing our hardwood floors. We sanded them and applied new polyurethane. I would post of picture, but they look exactly the same to a camera lens...they are basically spruced up. But, it took all weekend. We redid the floors in the kitchen and back bedroom (the rest of the wood floors are ok). We had to drag everything from those two rooms into the living room and office, so my house was torn up for three days. Everything is done and put back, so life is good again.
While doing this, my mom came into town for 12 hours. She wanted to have dinner, so we had dinner Saturday night. No real biggee here.
I went to my towns new "Fresh Market" grocery store. It is soooooo expensive, probably won't be back. Not worth it.
I really enjoyed my day off for President's Day...I have a really busy week the rest of this week though. That is about it for now.

Day 28 - Something that you miss.
Day 28 - Something that you miss.
Probably my childhood. I had a really great childhood. My brothers and I were best friends and we had great neighbor friends. Also, we never wanted to anything. I loved my childhood, my childhood home, and everything about it.

Day 27 - A problem that you have had.
Day 27 - A problem that you have had.
Infertility is probably the only real problem I have ever had, but you are probably tired of hearing about that.
I guess if I had to pick another problem I would pick needing to cut all ties with an old friend from 2nd grade (we were best friends from 2nd grade until two summers ago).
She kicked me out of her wedding after I already booked my flight and week-long condo stay in Florida. (a $1,500 investment) I still to this day have no idea why?
The part I feel horrible about is at the time I booked my flight and condo (7 months after she originally asked me) I bought it then because my husband just finished a HUGE side job that he made a bunch of money at (now this job was after his regular job and it took him a month because he could only work 3-4 hours after regular work) (and he is a carpenter so this is physical manuel labor in the hot summer time..working a 14-15 hour day) anyways he brought his money home and handed it over to me to pay for my flight and condo.
So after she kicked me out...I really wish I had that money back. I feel as though she owes me it. It really hurts me because it hurt my very generous husband who worked SSSOOOOO hard to provide me that opportunity.
We didn't talk for several weeks and then she tried contacting me. I ignored all phone calls and deleted all emails without even reading them. There is nothing I wanted to hear from her.
During this time I was talking to my little brother daily (as usually) and I told him I never wanted to talk to her again and he gave me the best piece of advice that anyone could ever give me...he said,
"Imagine her as a balloon on a string, then imagine yourself with a scissors. Now imagine yourself cutting that string and seeing the balloon float away."
Little brothers go figure?
So when she called me and I ignored the calls and deleted the emails I just pictured a balloon floating away.
Also, as I think back on grade school, high school, and college...I realized just how toxic she was. She did tons of drugs. Was arrested for shop lifting (she shop lifted thousands of times before she was caught) slept with every boy and did oral sex to boys in the cornfields everyday after school. She even shop lifted when I was with her and me who did not shop lift at all could of gotten in trouble for not doing anything because I was with her. She also drove around with drugs in her car without telling me...I would find it in her glove box or under the seat (and she was a horrible driver) I could of gotten in trouble. I would of tested clean, because she did the drugs before and after we were together. So yeah, very toxic and the friendship should of ended a long time ago.

Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day was wonderful. I spent the day shopping just for fun. I bought a bunch of jewelry from a store called "Charming Charlie" Do you have one of those near you? I also bought some candle stick holders from "Yankee Candle". I also stopped at Starbucks. After shopping I went to the library to put some books on interlibrary loan (I went to Borders at the mall and picked the books out I wanted to read and then went to the library....I heard Borders is filing bankruptcy sometime this week....I don't feel bad, my taxes pay for the library and I love to use it!!!!...I only read books once, so I don't feel the need to own them too often)
Then I came home and relaxed and watched Oprah.
My husband got home shortly after that and he grilled steaks. After dinner we exchanged gifts.

Oh, went I went outside in the morning to go shopping..I found this on the driveway (Too bad rain is in the forecast this week, I don't want it washed away!)
Here is the table I set for dinner. The candle stick holders were brand new, the hurricane was a gift from my mom years ago, and the tablecloth is from an antique store. Oh, and the napkins are from my grandma, very antique! The napkin holders are from my wedding!

Day 25 - Someone who fascinates you and why.
Day 25 - Someone who fascinates you and why.
My little brother (well he is 25)
It is just that everyone loves him, wants to be liked by him, and always wants him around. He is the life of the party.
However, I do think this is crazy, because he can be rude sometimes:
*he is always late
*he may not show up at all after he tells you he will make it
*he will say he is going to do something for you and then doesn't do it
He has girls fight each other for him (true story-a bar fight between two girls for him). When he breaks up with a girl they will stalk him (seriously stalk him...I have witnessed a lot!!!-I am talking drive-bys, constant calling, banging on his door, following him around, one girl put her fist through a window trying to get at him etc, etc) He will cheat on a girl and they will always take him back.
My extended family loves him and drools over him all the time. They always want him around. It really is crazy. He can do whatever he wants.
Teachers have changed his grade for him before...and everyone wants him to be a groomsman in their weddings. Waitresses have brought us free things for him.
It really is fascinating!!!! The best part is we are friends and talk everyday and he is very willing to tell me all of his stories. They are a laugh a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am not saying he is a bad guy because he is not. I am just picking him as fascinating because of the strength of his presence.

Day 22 - How have you changed in the past 2 years?
Day 22 - How have you changed in the past 2 years?
Not much really. Settling into married life.
The only 'big change' is the decision to try to have a baby.
I am in the same house, same job.
I guess I could also add the addition of a wonderful puppy to my life.
Yeah, so basically the dog and the decision to have a baby.

Of course education is important. (I am in the education field)
However some days it is a little discouraging that my husband only has a high school education and makes more money than I will ever see me making with a bachelors degree.

This was a complete Superbowl Weekend!
Friday-We finished up being snowed in. I went to the gym in the morning and then had to work 11:30-3:00. When I got home we just ate dinner and hung out at home.
Saturday-I went to the gym in the morning and then I got a last minute (seriously...she said to meet her in 20 mins) invite to go to McDonald's. My friend was tired of being snowed in also and she wanted to take her daughters to play in the play area. So I had lunch with her as her kids played. After that, I went home and started to prepare a lasagna. As I was making the lasagna, I had my husband do his laundry. When he went to put it in the dryer we noticed that the washer did not drain. The timer was broke on it and the part alone would cost $160 to replace. Last year the motor went out on in and we did replace that, however he are tired of putting money into this machine. So, I went and bought a new washer (I wish I had enough money for the matching dryer) Then it was decided to have it delivered on Monday. After that we rented the movie "The Freebie" with Dax Shepard...it was a horrible and boring movie, don't ever watch it.
We then met two couples at the comedy club and saw the comedy show. We saw a comedian named April Macie (google her if you wish). She has been on "Last Comic Standing" and is a regular on the Howard Stern show. She was probably the funniest comedian I have seen at my city's comedy club. *one funny story-The comedian that opened for her (Matt Holt was his name I believe) did probably a 45 min set...he had his fly down the entire time. I shouldn't laugh at someone's misfortune, but being a comic hopefully he sees the humor in it.
After the comedy club, we went to my brothers house to hang out for a little bit.
Sunday-I ran a few errands and then we went to our friends superbowl party. We went early and I rode our other friends snowmobile around the fields for awhile. We then watched the football game. (some of use girls also looked at each others wedding pictures on facebook)
(I didn't not like Christina singing the National Anthem)
After that, we went to another friends house who lives close just to chat with him since we were in the area. We got home at 11:30.
I had to be home today to let the wash machine delivery men in. They were suppose to be here between 8-noon. They came at 7:43! haha...I was up. I set my alarm for 7 am since I had to do a little computer work for my husband before he left for work at 7:30. I was glad they were so early because I had a load of laundry in and was at the gym by 8:30.
So yeah, I had quite a busy weekend!!!!!!!!!

Day 19 - Why you blog.
Day 19 - Why you blog.
I don't know????
It may sound weird, but that is the truth.
I kind of wanted to start blogging for some socialization among fellow women...you know girl talk. I love my husband very much, but when you have been with someone for nine years and live with them, you sometimes run out of things to talk about. My job is working with little kids, so I wanted some adult interaction.
But, I have been blogging for over a year and only have 24 followers. I get one comment every six months.
I kind of feel like I am talking to myself.
I am getting discouraged and have considered stopping. I think about that everyday. I think about just reading others.
But,
I do like looking back and remembering things I have done. So I guess that is my answer. It is more of a diary now than what I wanted it to be.
I was hoping to network and chit chat through comments and email with women my age, fairly newlywed, interested in the same things I am interested in.
Sometimes you just want some adult talk.
I didn't mean for this to be a downer...just being honest. I thought I would have more followers and comments by now.

I was hoping to network and chit chat through comments and email with women my age, fairly newlywed, interested in the same things I am interested in.
Sometimes you just want some adult talk.
I didn't mean for this to be a downer...just being honest. I thought I would have more followers and comments by now.

Day 18 - Your hometown.
Day 18 - Your hometown.
My hometown is only 10 mins away from where I am now.
But, it is completely different now than it was when I grew up. My dad still lives there and I have friends there so I see it all the time.
The 'heart' of the town basically crossed the street. When I was little the tiny grocery store and little restaurant, etc was on the opposite side of the highway than where I lived. We crossed the highway several times a day. Now they have a bigger grocery store and more business.
When I grew up we had one stop light, we now have 3.
I would still live there but there are SEVERAL subdivisions with really, really expensive houses on them , so the taxes are way to high. It is kinda known to be a slightly ritzy area. So ritz = high taxes. That is the only reason I don't live there now.
It is actually considered a 'village' and not a town.
But the best part of my hometown was my neighborhood.
We had the best group of neighbor kids. We would hang out from 8am until the street lights came on. There was probably a group of 20 or so of us and we did everything together. We played this game called "Lost Kids" where we pretended we were runaway orphans and we had to survive on our own. This game was played in our backyard because we had a bunch of trees and my dad made one of them into a play area by cutting some branches down. (one funny thing is that if we ever saw a real airplane in the sky...we would yell hide and run under anything we would see...trees, bushes, cars, etc...we pretended that is was the orphanage trying to find us...then one of us would say "coast if clear") We also played 'ghosts in the graveyard' which is just hide and go seek in the dark, but we used the entire neighborhood, which made it impossible to find anyone. So, we would dress all in black...play one round and then hang out at the park for the rest of the night. But, we did this every night. We spent more time dressing in black and picking who was 'it' then ever playing the game. We would start at the merry-go-round at the park (the 'it' person would stand in the middle and we would all stand around it with our knees touch the merry-go-round) and then the 'it' person would cover their eyes and count to 60. When they started counting we all would sprint. We had one minute to hide, but we had the entire neighborhood to hide in. (anyone's yard was game and we never got yelled at????) Then basically you sat in your hiding spot until you got bored and walked back to the park. At this time there might be 3-4ish people already there who got bored first. So basically the game was 'who gets bored first while sitting in someones backyard behind there wood pile' or whatever you were hiding behind. Churches were the best placed to hide. Then we all would sit at the park 'shooting the shit' until we went home.
Our parents were pretty layed back (everyone's parents) We left at 8am and when the streetlights came on we had to go home for dinner, and then we would leave again. The parents basically had an understanding that whoever had our group over at their house around noon fed everyone lunch. (pbj/mac&cheese/hotdogs/leftovers) My mom never asked me if I ate lunch or what I ate. (who knows...maybe the parents called each other...I don't know?) From the time I could remember till 8th grade....I was never in a house. We lived in the neighborhood basically. Everyone's house was my house and my house was everyones. We were in and out and here and there. We lived on our bikes.
(there were times we would play someone's video games and the kids who lived there weren't even home...we just knocked on the door and asked if we could play. We would sit with their parents while their kids were gone....we also jumped on other trampolines without them being home...they would pull into their driveways, wave at us, and walk inside)
In the winter, my backyard had this amazing hill and everyone would sled on it. If my family left somewhere, we would come home to find random neighbor kids in our backyard. This happened every day in the winter. We would even go to bed with kids still out there.
I did grow up with two brothers (one older and one younger) and we always got along. We still do. So we were together all the time.
If we weren't playing at the park we were at the school playground, the fire station, any of the churches, buying candy at the grocery store, renting movies, going on long bike rides, eating at the restaurant (but paying in change), getting ice cream, etc etc.

Blizzard
Well so far three days of canceled school. Blizzard 2011
The snow is for sure thigh high. Actually there are drifts that are taller than I am. My dog just didn't walk in them...he would only walk in the small drifts.

Blizzard
We are in the middle of a blizzard and it is suppose to continue until tomorrow at noon-ish
Here is what I did today while-literally- being snowed in:
Organize two-count them two-closets
I have my china on open shelving-cleaned and dusted all china and shelves (this job was bigger than the closets)
cleaned this cluttered shelf under my microwave
made pioneer women's red velvet cake (is her new book any good??????)
made soup
played with my dog in the snow drifts...they are way bigger than he is....I lost him a few times (just kidding sorta)
took a really long shower
Basic cleaning (vacuum, sweep, mop, etc) is on the list for tomorrow
I need to get snowed in more often :)
