American Girl Doll

First off, I really do not like American Girl Dolls. I think they are way too expensive....some of their cloths are more expensive than human cloths. However, that being said:

I was watching the news today and they came out with a new American Girl Doll who is homeless. What are your thoughts on this?

Retail Therapy

I have been on a big retail therapy kick these last two weeks and I NEED TO STOP! I am putting myself on a shopping lock down for a week. So far so good. There was a magazine I wanted to subscribe to, but I threw the paper in the trash and saved that money...(good for me) However, I did shop today and spent about $80 on myself so that was bad.

It has been one year

It has been one years since my father-in-law passed away. We drove to Congerville to his grave site today. Wes's Aunt Ina and her husband met us there and she brought along flowers to put on the grave. She just brought along silk flowers that she has picked up at garage sales and the et cetra shop. I think I will start to find silk flowers at garage sales to keep on his grave. He still does not have a headstone because no one has the money right now to get one. It is sad, but we are working on it and he will have one one day. (Hopefully soon) I can't believe it has been a whole year.

Afterward, we went to Wes's mom's house and she made us dinner (for all the siblings) this has been the first time in the 7 years that I have been with Wes and she has organized anything. I think Wes is a little upset about that. This year on his birthday he got a card from my mom and my grandma and not a single one from anyone in his family. I gave him the mail and asked him if he wanted to open his birthday cards and he said, "Oh, none from my family it looks like."

I really wish both of our families where closer and we did more family activities.

Duct Cleaning

I finally got a good deal on something and experienced good business and customer service.

We decided to get our ducts, a/c, and furnace cleaned and give the furnace a tune-up. Originally the price was $256. They were running a September deal of $156. This man was nice enough to allow us to make 3 payments of $50 each (well one was $56 if you do the math). (good business and customer service) so that we were able to have comfortable weeks. Then while he was here he cracked about 3 inches of our old plaster-which does upset me because it is going to take Wes forever to fix it- but because he did that he told me he will knock $50 off of the price. So, my $256 service is only going to cost $106 and I have clean and sanitized ducts and tuned-up furnace. He said I should see a significant difference on my heating bills this winter. Which will be great!!!!!!!!!! He also was only suppose to do 11 ducts for that piece and $4 for each additional duct past that, but he waved that fee also.

I also got an amazing deal at Bergner's this week. I got
3-shirts
2-skirts
1-dress
all for $25

the shirts and skirts were $3.99 and the dress was $2.99. I then save 20% on a couple of the items because of a coupon. I also got a pair of pants that were $78 for $30. The skirts were $108 and $89 originally and the shirts were $50 each originally. The dress was close to $60 originally.

Great week for good deals!!!!!!!!!!

Wes's Birthday

Wes's Birthday is Tuesday and I gave him his present yesterday (since I can't really hide a grill) (yes it was raining out earlier) Wes is now cooking with propane!!!!

So Much Success

Can you guess what I have been doing the last couple of days? Canning, Canning, Canning!!!

Wes and I went to Tanner's yesterday and bought some Golden Delicious Apples (a little under ripe :( ) and I made apple pie filling.....I also canned tomatoes, grape juice, grape jelly (previous post about that) I am so proud of my self....it is so easy to do!!!!!!!!!

Success

I spent the entire day canning grapes. I now have 7 jars of juice and 2 jars of jelly......

It really is a lot of work. In order for it to be a huge money saver you would have to have your own garden. The jars are expensive to start out with and the lids you have to buy all the time...but it was fun and it makes me happy to know that I did this...

Ladies Guild

Tonight was my first Ladies Guild Meeting. Several thoughts for the evening:

1. I was the youngest one there by a good 20 years lol
2. I am really embarrassed by my generation and any generation following me.
3. Events and activities of any kind are going to be dieing out...we are getting lazier and lazier and no one wants to be a leader. We just want to be selfish and let other people do all the work.
4. I hope I am in this for the long haul and I hope I will make a contribution. St Monica's is a gray congregation.

I guess I will see where this year takes me. I hope I will stick with it.

Love/Hate Relationship

I have a love-hate relationship with home improvement projects. We are currently stripping and repainting all interior doors. We have been working on it since Saturday (it is Thursday now and we are not close to being done) It is like I don't feel comfortable in my house because it is taken apart. You can see in all closets so that annoys me. Also, Wes has dripped paint all over the garage, so it is like he if finishing one project and creating another!!! AAAAHHHH.
