So far, it has been a pretty eventful weekend and it is only Saturday! Last night we went to my town's carnival...same old, same old. Hamburger, cheese fries, funnel cake, shopping at the vendor's tables (I bought two pairs of earrings), running into people we know.

After the carnival we went to a friend's house a chit chatted over a few adult beverages.

Today, my veterinarian's office had an open house. So, I took my dog. We won a free dog grooming session. Yay, I think that is a very good prize.

I will probably go shopping for a new bathroom rug and maybe visit with my brother for the rest of today. My husband will be working till pretty late.

Only 5 more days until our anniversary get-a-way!!!!!!!!

Our 4-year anniversary is a week and a half away. Here is our plans:

It is a hotel room with your own private pool and hot tub in it. An indoor pool just for me and the hubs. If you do happen to check out the website we booked the Majestic suite. It is second for the bottom. The only difference between ours and the top room is the slide. I do want the slide, but we decided to save a little money. So we will go out to a fancy dinner and then check into our suite and stay there for the rest of the night!

Can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Volunteer

My church does a food pantry one Saturday every month. Today I volunteered at the set up. On Friday they set out the tables and load the fridge/and freezer with things that go in there and set the tables with food like can goods/potatos/apples/things that can sit on a table over night. Saturday will be the day the needy families come and pick up their food. I actually want to volunteer tomorrow, but can't. However, I am going to try to do more of this this summer.

I can't volunteer tomorrow because my husband and I are going to do some work around the house. We are going to blow in some more insulation. With the new a/c we want to become as energy efficient as possible. So we are going to start that bright and earlier in order to finish by the end of the day.

After the set-up, I went to a few garage sales. I bought a chair for my scrapbook table and 2 vases. Then I came home and read 100 pages in my book. I couldn't stop reading. Tonight we are just having frozen pizza for dinner and relaxing because tomorrow will be a bear.

Best Deal Ever

I am not sure if anyone remembers me blogging last year about a day trip I took to an antique store last August, but I bought this ring:


I wanted it because it is an opal which is my birthstone. I have always wanted an opal ring. I bought it for $15 and on the inside of the ring it says 14k.

So I assume (unless someone counterfeited it) that it was gold. Then I assumed that no one would put a completely fake opal in a 14k gold setting. Oh, I also bought this in the costume jewelry case obvious since I paid $15.

So, since August I have been wondering if this is a real nature opal, lab created/manmade, or completely fake.
I have been so curious for so long, that I decided to get it appraised. Well, I took my wedding set in to be resized and since I have three rings in the set, it was pretty expensive to get this done. So I asked the jeweler if they would tell me how much my opal ring would be worth and whether or not it was real. (basically I got the appraisal for free is what I am getting at)

not only is it 100% natural (not lab created)
it would be worth $734.



Not bad for a $15 antique store purchase.

I am sitting here very impatient so I thought I would blog to pass time so I don't freak. Right now we have a heating and cooling guy here installing a brand new a/c unit. (our other one was super old so we updated). He got here at 7am and it is 9:30 now. The reason I am impatient is because I took my wedding set in to be resized and it is done today at 10. I don't want to leave just in case the installer has any questions, but I also want to pick up my wedding ring set. To continue with the new efficiency of our home, we are getting blown-in insulation on Saturday if it doesn't rain. We are doing this ourselves. I am ready for our energy bills to be lower!!!!!!!!!!!
My husband is also going to remodel my dad's bathroom and I am going to design it. If I knew how to make one of those digital inspiration boards I would post it here, but I don't. I actually did an inspiration board the old fashion way: cut the pics out and tape to a small piece of construction paper.

Whatever It Is

Busy Busy weekend, but so so so fun!!! I had a lot of good fortune this weekend.

My central a/c unit went out last week and I was really worried about the cost to replace it....HOWEVER.......my dad really wants his bathroom remodeled....so he is paying for our new central a/c unit and my husband is going to remodel his bathroom. It really is a good deal for both of us. We get the a/c unit we need and my dad gets his bathroom remodeled cheaper than hiring another carpenter.

Friday we saw the ZAC BROWN BAND in concert. Sonia Leigh and Blackberry Smoke opened for them. It really was a great time. This was suppose to be an outdoor concert at a different venue, but they moved it due to the weather and I was so happy they moved it for the air conditioner and good bathrooms....am I right ladies? Flush toliets over porta-potties any day of the week.

Saturday, we went to the funnest wedding we have been to since ours!!!! We had a blast. Both the bride and groom have very small families, so it was basically our big group of friends partying down!

Today was a family reunion...I only went for an hour...same old-same old.

I am braising a brisket in the oven right now and it smells divine...It is the Pioneer Woman recipe.

The Heat is On

Phew! It is H-O-T hot out there. Welcome to Summer!!!!

I have been trying to find inside things to do so that I won't be hot. I don't like hot.

Friday, my friend Kendra and I went on an all day spa day. It was so fun!!! Pedicure, hot stone facial, and hair wash/trim. I love getting my hair washed and combed out without me having to do it. Have you ever been asked the question: "What would be the first thing you would do if you won a million dollars?" My answer would be to hire someone to come over everyday to do my hair. (wash and style) 2nd would be for a new house and 3rd would be for a new car....ok back on subject now.......I get a facial about once a month, but Friday was my first hot stone facial. I didn't think it was any better than a regular facial so not worth the extra money, so I will go back to my regular facials.

Other than that, not much has been going on. I just wanted to do a blog post so that the one person who actually reads my blog knows I am still here haha. I decided to watch the TV series "WEEDS" so I have been borrowing the seasons from a friend and I am now 1/2 way through season six which is the last season released on DVD so far. Anybody else watch that series?

Tomorrow I am going Strawberry picking. I will make strawberry shortcake for dessert tomorrow. Any other must try strawberry recipes???

But, I LOVE MMA FIGHTING, ESPECIALLY LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why but it gets my adrenaline pumping. When I know someone in the cage, I about have a heart attack, but it is so thrilling. I do love it when my friends are the bad-a*% who wins though.

I have had several friends fight locally and I always go and watch them. I even know people who are trainers for people.

We went to the fights last night. It was so fun. I was the lunatic screaming in the front row. A friend of mine fought and another friend trained someone, so I went to see them. Both winners. My friend who fought, this was his first MMA, but he has boxed before and my friend who trained, this was his first trained fighter. I was so glad they both won.

However, it is strange to see a broken jaw, swelled up eyes (three of them last night) and people passing out from being choked out right in front of you. I was also shocked at the number of girl fighters there were last night. I think it is fun to spend the evening at the fights.

After I left the fights, I went to a bachelorette party which was drama filled. There is too much to talk about with that but basically: vomit, fights, lost i.ds., and all around fun foolishness.

Today was a little more low key, grocery shopping and then seeing the "Hangover 2". So funny! Please go see it, you will laugh until you cry.
