Where is Spring?

I can't believe google reader is going away!  Everytime I get use to something..they change it.

Well Spring is here...I think...it looks like Spring, sounds like Spring, but it doesn't feel like Spring.  I can't wait until I don't have to wear a jacket.  The one good thing is all of my baby's cold weather clothes are 3-6 months because that would of been the heart of winter, but since he took awhile to fit into them he is able to wear them all now.

His naps are getting better....sometimes they are only 15 mins.

We are exclusivly using cloth diapers at home in the daytime.  He is still in disposibles over night and when we are out of the house.  I use all in ones and pre-folds.  If you are interested, here are my thoughts on them.

All-in-ones:
Pros-easy to use, cute with nice colors and patterns, washes up ok

Cons-expensive, bulky, takes a little longer to dry, stuffing the inserts in them everytime

pre-folds-
pros-cheap, washes wonderfully, less bulky, dries quick, easier to fold...no need to stuff,
            easy to store

cons-needing to learn how to use them (but once you learn and practice they are a cinch),
some may say they are not as cute....but the old fashion diaper with plastics pants I
think are very cute on them.

if you use pre-folds...I recommend the snappies and not the pins...I can not get the pins tight enough and I just feel they migh be uncomfortable when he is on tummy time.

I wish it were hot and sunny so I can hang them outside...they dry just fine on my rack inside...but drying them in the sun is way better.

March-In Like a Lion..Out Like a Lamb (I Hope)

Sorry about the title...but I am ready for spring!

Anyways....

not much happening at the old homestead...just growing a baby!

*the dog had yet another seizure

*baby is discovering new things and it is so nice to watch him learn!

*I love my mom's groups!  I am in two of them.

*basement remodel is going so slow!  There just isn't enough hours in the day for my husband

We got some St Pat's pictures taken..can't wait to show them!!!!!!!

My cousin had a baby today and he was born with gastroschisis...which means he was born with his intestines on the outside of his body.  He underwent surgery and is now in the nicu...so far everything is looking good.  He will be there for at least 30 days.

*I am getting so excited for st pat's day and Easter...holidays with a baby are so much better!

Update

If you read my last post..transitioning him from the bassinet to a crib was 100% successful.

Not much new is going on....throwing a baby shower for my brother on Sunday..so we are getting ready for that.

Beau moved into size 2 diapers....and is very close to moving out of 0-3 mon clothes.

He is growing so much.  He is definintly not a newborn anymore...he is really getting use to our routine.  He loves to go on car rides and errands...he behaves so well!  His personality is really shining through.

Mom's Groups

So I have been checking out mom's groups.  It may be early since my baby can't "play" with other kids...but I am trying to lay some ground work and make friends myself so that I can find friends for him to play with when the time is right.  So basically if I hear of one I go.  So far I have 2 groups.

The first group meets every Wednesday from noon-2pm.  I love this group because it is perfect for me right now.  "Technically" it is a breastfeeding support group where we are suppose to support everyone in their breastfeeding struggles and be able to ask questions or share what has worked for us.  What really happens is that we sit in a circle, put our babies on blankets in front of us, shake rattles at them, and chat.  Perfect...just what I need.  I love it.  There is one lady in the group who I kind of 'clicked' with.

It is hard making friends as adults!

So far I have not done anything with anyone outside of the noon-2 on Wednesdays.

The second group is a little more 'fly by the seat of our pants' group.  We had a mom's only breakfast together on Saturday and basically after that...one of us it suppose to make suggestions of activities and it is more loose.  However, all their children are way older...in school already...there were 3 women who had 11 month olds...but they also had older children.  So, we will see what comes of that.

Now, I want to go back to where I said 'making friends as adults is hard'.  Why?????
