Is It Just Me???

I always find it a little annoying when people claim things that everyone does.  For example, I just read on a blog that "brunch is a 'city' thing"....umm no, brunch is not a 'city' thing.  People do brunch all over.  I grew up on a dairy farm/small town house in the midwest.  We have been doing brunch my entire life.  We have brunch on Sundays, on Easter, on Mother's Day, Christmas, house warming parties, heck..we do brunch all the time.  We have restaurants that have brunch....I had brunch in California before, in Colorado, and in Florida....(in non-big cities).  It just seems weird...brunch is something everyone does.  It is like saying "wearing jeans is a Wisconsin 'thing'"...of course people wear jeans all over the world.....

I could see how surfing would be a coastal 'thing' or skiing could be a mountain 'thing' that makes sense.  But brunch being a city thing does not.  Also, Football is not only a 'Southern thing'....coming to my state during football season....it is just as crazy....Football is a 'lots 'o people thing'.

Can Football be played basically anywhere???? yes    (I know it is not played in Antartica or somewhere..just bear with me)

Can surfing be done in Oklahoma?  No

That is what I think.

I have also found it weird that sweet tea is a southern thing.....there was a pitcher of sweet tea in my grandma and mom's fridge my entire life.  Restaurants here serve sweet tea....I don't consider it a 'southern' thing...I consider it something to drink.

Saturday Shopping

I love Saturday shopping.  I went downtown this morning and I had such a good time.  I got a new bra and two new shirts.  I then went to hobby lobby and got an embossing heat gun.  That is it...just those 3 things, but I had a great morning browsing.  Now I have a little time to relax before the hubby comes home from work and I make dinner.....to MAD MEN dvds I go.......

Snow

Well it is finally snowing!  I am sure there won't be any accumulation, but the flurries are pretty.  I am(well besides this quick post) watching Mad Men and looking out my window at the flurries.  It really is so relaxing.  Here are some quick random things going on right now.

*Wednesday- one of the little girls in my class last name was Golightly....Anyone know why that is cool to me?????  Hint...movie. 5 points for a correct answer.

*I have already received my Valentine's Day Presents but I am going to wait until Valentine's Day to blog about them.

*Mad Men is the greatest show ever, but I sometimes feel bad watching it.  The women are so elegant.  If the characters show up at someones home late at night or if the scene is set at home in the evening...the women are in these beautiful night gowns with matching flowing robes with their hair so smooth and silky and perfect.
Me last night-old t-shirt with hole in the armpit, ratty hair in an old scrunchy
(due to hair breakage....I have started wearing scrunchies while I sleep
only...my hair rubber bands break my hair so bad)  and a big blemish
                                                        on my forehead.
*Shamrock shakes are the greatest thing ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*I am trying to sell stuff on craigslist and it is making my nervous.  My first planned sale was cancelled on me at the last minute...tonight I have my second planned sale....I hope the buyer shows.  Also, I will not have someone come to my house so we are meeting at a local business and my husband is coming with me.

I am so happy it is Friday!

Diy

So my grandma gave me this utensil holder.  (you know for your spoons and spatulas on your counter)  Well I already had one for my kitchen and this one was just not my style...so I decided to redo it.

So first I painted it (with paint I already had on hand.)

Then I added burlap and a ribbon (which I also already had on hand)

Volia!!!

I am going to put it in my craft room to hold scissors and pens and things.....cost of entire project.....

$0

I have had a post waiting to be published on my ipad for two days now...it was a quick diy project and for some reason my blogpress app won't let it publish and I don't know how to fix it. Oh well, this week really has wizzed by...I just can't believe it. There really isn't anything very exciting to talk about. Wednesday I did a little retail therapy that felt so good. I got some bubble bath and shower gel from Bath and Body Works.

Clinique is having their bonus days so I got two eyeliners and the bonus gift which is the best bonus gift they have ever given. Everything in it was something I needed and used!

I also was in a baking mood and more importantly in a 'need for new baking tools' mood so I got 3 new cookie sheets, a new cookie scoop, and silicone baking mats.

Other than that, it has been pretty low key this week.  However, I asked my husband to put a clothesline in our backyard for me this spring.  I don't know why I asked him this?  For some reason I just want one??? Maybe it will save us a little money on our dryer time.  Does anyone else have a clothesline?  My biggest worry is that we install it and don't use it.  I am getting a retractable one so it rolls up when not in use and then I can clip it to a pole when in use.  That way it is not in the way and it stays cleaner.  I am just imagining my lilacs blooming and fresh cloths on the line with the lilac smell!!!! I am strangely excited about this!

I also have been watching my Mad Men series.  The new season comes on in March so I wanted to rewatch (for the 4th time) all the previous seasons.  Right now I am two episodes away from finishing season 1.

Well that is about all that is going on here.  Talk to you later.

Announcement

I am going to suspend the link-up...it really is to much work right now for one person to link-up with. If I ever get more readers I might try again, but not right now. I am going to be back this afternoon with a diy project that I am now just finishing up.
