Siding, shingles, and porch posts

The next item I need to pick out for the house is the siding, shingles, and porch design.  I believe I am going for a little grey siding and a charcoal grey shingle.  But here are some porch inspiration pics:

Any suggestions?  things you like about your porch..things you don't?

Our Forever Home

So the other huge news in our family is that we bought a lot and are building a house.  Here is that story:

Ever since we were dating we always wanted to build our home.  However, we never thought it would be a possibility.  I am a sucker for realtor.com and am always looking at it.  I found a lot that was so cheap I really thought it was to good to be true.  There had to be something wrong with it.  But we went and looked at it and fell in love.  It is over one acre and is on a cul de sac.  It was heavily wooded and lots of timber in the back yard.  It really was perfect.  It was so cheap we bought it for cash! So that started everything off.  We had to sell our current house so we put that on the market in June of 2014. We had it on the market from June until December 2014 when I had my daughter.  We had to fire and 2 realtors during that time.  Because we moved within the same company we did not have to wait.  In December we decided to take it off the market in order to have my baby and find a new company and realtor.  We then relisted in early January 2015 and it sold Valentine's Day 2015.  We closed on it March 21 2015.  During that closing time we moved everything into a storage shed and lived with my single brother for a few months. This was very difficult because I really need my own space especially with 2 very young kids.  My husband was always gone because he was building a house that we were going to live in while we built our house.  When that house was complete we moved in it (we are currently here) and then we broke ground on our house.  The home we live in is across the street from our lot so when my husband is working on our house he is across the street!  Since we are building it ourselves it will be along process because my husband still has a full time job of course.  Right now we are in the framing stage.  I don't have up to date pics right now but I can post a few starting from the beginning.

We are actually now in the framing stage and we are about 95% done with that.  It looks like a house now and if you walk around in it you will see the layout...I will get some updated pictures soon.

If you want to know the design the best way to describe it is a farmhouse style.  It will have a wrap around porch.

She is so amazing.  My pregnancy was super easy.  I love being pregnant!  I have nothing bad to say about it.
She was a planned C-section which I was upset about.  After I had my son I didn't want to have a baby with the same doctor, but out of pure laziness of not wanting to find another doctor I did and I regret it.  The doctor told me I was going to have a huge baby and she needed to come out before she gets any bigger (she told me the same thing with my son)  So she told me I need to deliver early and basically scared me into it.  My daughter came out 8 lbs (wow huge baby, right ((sarcasms)) So she was wrong.  If I have a third I NEED A NEW DOCTOR.  I also wanted a v-bac and she said no.  Anyways.
This will be included with my next post but in May of the year she was born we bought a lot.  We then put our house on the market while I was pregnant so we had home showings for months.  During this time my husband built the current home we are living in (more details later) because we couldn't start our house until our old one sold.  We fired 2 realtors during this time with the second one being fired about a week before she was born.  We left the house off of the market while I had her on December 5th and decided to put it back on January 3 2015.  So I had more home showings with a one month old, a toddler, and an 85 lb dog.  It sold on February 14 and we closed on March 21.  During that time my husband was moving things into our storage shed every night and weekend.  So I was very alone in this new phase but I handled it like a champ I think.  Not ideal, but I did it.  So she is 14 months old and my husband is now building our forever home.

Now I hate to admit this but I never wanted a daughter.  I totally thought I was a boy mom.  I didn't want to deal with hair and attitude.  But boy was I wrong.  She is so great.  I can totally eat my words.  She is so cute and it is so fun to dress her up.  I just love her and can't wait for mommy daughter days!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am still nervous for the future attitude though.

Oh just can't get over how great she is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  She is such a good baby.  She sleeps well and eats well and always has.  She never cries!  She is great.

Update From Babyville

Summer is blowing by....I can't believe all the back to school talk.  My baby is nine months old now.
He just cut his frist tooth this week.  He has two poking through on the top.  He is a champ at finger foods and totally "Mr. Independent"  He does not want to be held.  He wants to crawl around on the ground and play with all his toys.

I am already thinking about his first birthday.  I think I am going for a cowboy theme for my little buckaroo.

I am trying not to jam pack my days as full as I use to.  It just got to be too much.  However, he is old enough to start enjoying more things so some small kid outing have been a blast.  For example, there was a kids concert at the library that we went to and he bopped along to the music like a rock star.

Here are some pics of all our summer fun so far:

 Fourth of july fun
 We love the water
Who doesn't love a good sink bath.
 FUn at the Farm Park
 Concerts at the local carnival
 The zoo

 We love eating at restaurants.

Random and a Rant

Life is moving along just swimmingly.  Nothing really new or different.  My baby is such a good baby that it is making me nervous for things to come.  He is just a dream.  I have got to be in for it in the future.
I recently made a new friend in my mom's group.  A really, truly, genuine good friend.  We just click.  There is no drama and it is not work.  The reason I say this is that some of my old friends are just so much work.  They are just a full time job.  Everything is so difficult with them.  This new friend is just so easy going and likes the same things I like.  She likes to go out and about and is ready in a moments notice.  It is perfect.  (and obviously we have kids about the same age...hers is just a couple months younger.  The catch is that her husband just interviewed for a promotion.  If he gets it they will have to move to another state.  I hate to say I am rooting against this, it will be good for them I am sure...I just don't want her to move away.  He interviewed last Monday and they still haven't heard anything back.  I will be happy for them if they do.
The baby and I have such a busy week coming up.  All fun things!  We went to the zoo and dinner today, tomorrow we have a lunch date, Wednesday is mom's group, Thursday is the carnival, and Friday my mom coming in town and back to the carnival on Saturday.  The weather is also going to be good finally.

Now for the rant.  When I was pregnant my hubby and I wanted to tell everyone in person.  We did not want to do a facebook announcement.  We also were telling everyone in order...family, close friend, more distant friends, etc.  Also we are not close to his family AT ALL...we never see them, we never talk to them, we don't spend holiday's with them, they don't come to parties, etc.  However, when we were pregnant we did call each one of them and tell them that in person.  As soon as he told his brother Kevin...Kevin immediately went to facebook and announced it to the world.  I was totally pissed.  He stole my thunder and we were not done telling our friends...some of our friends found out that way and called us a little upset...it was not his place to say anything.  If the pregnant mother has not announced it on her facebook then it is not ok to announce it on yours.
ANYWAYS...he called my husband today to tell him his girlfriend is pregnant and getting married and at the end of the conversation he told my husband to tell me to not put it on facebook because they are trying to keep it low key.  WTF are you kidding me...he stole my thunder and we don't even talk but once every 3 or 4 years.  Also I would never do that it hurt me very bad and I never air my dirty laundry on facebook.  HOWEVER I really FEEL like going ahead and doing it, but out of respect for my husband I couldn't.  But I want to.

6 month

I use my son to make friends....

There I said it...I use my son to make friends.

Lets talk about seasons of friends.

High School-I had greats friends..lots of them...I still talk to them today.  It was easy to make them and long lasting.

College-Easy to make friends, but they just didn't seem to last long.  I don't keep in touch with them now.  I always had people to hang out with and go to lunch with and shop with.

Adults-coworkers-I never had much success making good friends with co-workers...we talked at work but that was about it.  I just didn't want to see them outside of work because they just reminded me of work.  I just never ever clicked with anyone.

Friends of spouse (or significant other)-easy to make friends with because you kind of have to.  But, I have had a lot of success with this because we seem to like each other.  This is important and makes your life way less stressful.

Now for the grand finale-making friends with other moms.  This is wonderful and fairly easy.  IMO-the reason it is easy is because when I invite them places they say yes because they want to do stuff with their kids outside of the house.  We have something to talk about (our kids) and we want to hear about that stuff.

So recently I have made some new friends.  It is so refreshing!  Thank goodness.  I feel a little guilty using my son, but I will feel better about that during his teenage years.
