Well first off......Halloween is my birthday. So I really don't even know where to start?
Childhood?
Teen?
Adult?
Maybe one of each?
CHILDHOOD-
Well I always had a birthday party....they were great....one was at a zoo at an event my town calls "Spookhollow" once at a hotel, several at home, etc.
Well once my mom and I decided to make a haunted house in my basement. I was in 5th grade. That summer we built a house and at the time we didn't finish the basement so it was all concrete (we later finished it to be really cool)
So we bought green light bulbs and replaced all the bulb so there was a green dim hue. We also bought those rolls of black tarps and hung them from the ceiling and made narrow hallways I guess is the best way to describe that.
We put some tarp in the middle of the walk way and cut slits up them so you had to walk through. We put the fake spider web stuff all over. We played scary sounds on the boom box. We made a coffin out of cardboard and my brother laid in it in a vampire costume and jumped out at people. He actually did a great job at this...I was impressed...he really got into the roll. We would flash the lights on and off while people walked...we also had dry ice to make steam.
There is more to the haunted house...but this post would be so long. Also, I am totally honest when I say this, to this today my friends who attended the party will still make comments on how cool they thought it was as a 5th grader. Serious.....we still sometimes talk about it.
To wrap up childhood....by brothers and I would go trick or treating together. We would come home and dump our candy out on the floor and divide them into piles and count who had more of what type....like who had more snickers, etc.
I always had to have my party on the day before or day after Halloween so that I had the attendance due to trick or treating.
My initials were and still are MMM. So a few times my mom made 3 round cakes and frosted them red or green or orange...m&m color and then put a big white M in the middle to look like a M&M. I also had the princess cake, etc
TEEN Years-
Bonfire parties! I actually had a good friend who would throw bashes in the woods for me. As a cheerleader we would also tp the basketball team.
On my 18th birthday, another friend (who turned 18 first) thought it was funny to buy me anything that an 18 year old could buy...cigarettes, playgirl magazine, lotto tickets....it was really funny. I have no idea whatever happened to that playgirl???
ADULT-
21st...I was with my husband who was my boyfriend then.....bars, gambling, college parties.
These are not in order:
Betty and Barney Rumble
Betty and Barney Rumble
Hunter and Hippie
This one is a story. My cousin use to have a Halloween party every year. This year she was pregnant but she was having problems...long story, but bedrest etc. So I assumed she would not throw her party, but she wanted to if it worked out. I assumed it would not, so I didn't think or buy anything that had to do with a costume. Well the baby (who was due at around Thanksgiving (( Nov)) came the last week of October on a Monday. My cousin still wanted the party that following weekend, but I thought that once she had her baby (1st child) she would not not want to throw a party...well she throw one together at the last minute that Saturday. So I had to throw together 2 costumes (hubby and me) in one busy day. So Hippie and Hunter is what I got. My husband is a deer hunter so he had everything and a hippie is the perfect last second throw together costume.
This one is my brother and his exgirlfriend. But I love it...he was a dead rodeo star....what was his name???? the movie 8 seconds was about him???? I will text the bro and get back to you.
