Most of you know I am a substitute teacher. I said something bad in front of my students today and I totally did not mean to say it and I definitely shouldn't of said it. It literally just rolled off my tongue.
One of my students was out of the room and was gone for a long time with another teacher. We started talking about him. (I said, "Is so and so usually back in time to go to library with us? " Then the kids went, "yes, no, yes, yes he does, no he doesn't" ((You get the picture)) Right when we were talking about him I saw his head through the window of the door and I said, "Speak of the devil"
OH NO!!!!
I probably should not of said that. That is a phase my family, friends, and acquaintances of mine have said my entire life. It just slipped out. I really didn't think before I spoke. All my students noticed because they said something. They said "Is that bad to say?" Then I said, "I am sorry, I should not of said that but it is just a saying."
What makes matters worse it this kid has major behavior problems (which is why he was not in my class....he is on my class rooster, but is pulled to a behavior class but he comes back just for specials (music, pe, library) and right before lunch to walk down with us.) So it really did sound like I was calling him a devil...I know it sounds bad. He is deaf so he didn't hear me. He can actually read lips very well, be he was not looking at me.
I really hope they don't go home and tell their parents and then have a parent call the school. I will be nervous all of time about this.
I know teachers make mistakes...I once heard a teacher say sh*t in class accidentally.
I am just kicking myself right now.
