Ok, so I probably should be embarrassed to admit this, but I am going to so that you understand my story.
From my childhood, I have kept one box of my old Barbies...I really never had the heart to throw them away...I never had that many so they all fit in one box....I never look at them or touch them...they are just sitting in a box in the basement. I just don't have the heart to get rid of them. Also, when I was little and played with Barbies, two of the Barbies I played with were my mom's from the '60's (seriously...on the back of them they say- copyright 1963) So I always had this dream that if I saved my Barbies, my daughter would play with them just like I played with my mom's....I really wanted this to happen....I wanted my daughter to play with my Barbies.
I also kept a very small plastic container of my old play kitchen food and utensils. Like plastic peas, crackers, small plates, small forks, etc. Again, not a lot...I did this so my non-existent daughter could play with them or if I ever had to babysit a girl, I had just a few toys to play with her.
So, there you have it, one box of barbies and one container of play food toys. Now, I have not looked at them in probably over 20 years. I just have moved the boxes from house to house.
Well, last Thursday, I was going through several tubs I have in my basement, when I came across these. Just for the heck of it, I opened the lid just to peek inside. When I opened the lid to the play food, I found something in there that I totally forgot about until I saw it.
In the eights and nineties when moms with small children were at places like church or sporting events or whatever, they would have cheerios that they would let their kids snack on to keep them quiet. Moms now a days use those Gerber puffs more often (I am sure there are moms that still have a cheerio supply on them) Well, when I was really little and still played with dolls my mom put some cheerios in a bag and I would pretend to feed them to my dolls just like those moms in church.
So when I opened the lid I saw those old cheerios in the baggie...I thought 'gross' and I threw them in the garbage. Well last night my husband was in the basement and I could hear him say, "Bad Dog" I went down to see what our dog did. My husband found a chewed up plastic bag on the floor. (there were no cheerios near the bag) My dog got into the garbage, pulled out the old cheerios, ripped the bag, ate the old cheerios, and left the baggie on the floor.
MY DOG ATE 25 YEAR OLD CHEERIOS! GROSS GROSS GROSS!!!!!!! PUKE!
He is as happy as a clam today, so I don't think he is sick from it?
