Well, if you remember this:
from my previous post I did find out what it is and what it is used for.
I did know it was for cooking: duh, but wasn't sure what type of cooking. I thought for sure it was not for meat because it is clay and all the 'juices' would absorb in the pot, but I was wrong.
It is a roaster and meat is the best thing to cook in it. Go figure. I had one person on my blog take a guess and she was right.
Then I though it was only for poultry like chicken or turkey. Again I am wrong...the website said it was great for meat loaf (ground beef-lots of fat/juices)
(If you do go to the website, mine is item number 01102)
I also found out what was so great about it and why people use it.
The way you use this is you soak it in water for 15 mins before you bake anything. Then you put it in a cold oven and turn it on. Then when it is done, you slowly cool it down (don't put on a cold countertop, it might crack)
Well the water steams it and the meat gets really moist without added oil or anything.
So clay pot cooking is a healthy way to bake basically. My roaster is the small one, so I of course can't cook a thanksgiving turkey in it, but I might be able to do a small chicken or a turkey breast. We will see.
Wow! That is awesome! I can't wait to see what you make with it!
